Beijing, China: Online Campaign for World Oral Health Day by Chinese Stomatological Association

World Oral Health Day is celebrated globally every year on 20 March.  It is the largest global awareness campaign on oral health.  March 20th WOHD celebrates the largest oral health promotion activity in the world.  The theme of WOHD 2020 is UNITE FOR MOUTH HEALTH, aiming to encourage everyone to be committed to value their oral health and encourage people around them to participate together to create an atmosphere of "UNITE FOR MOUTH HEALTH".

As the member of World Dental Federation FDI, Chinese Stomatological Association (CSA) actively organizes and initiates oral health campaign every year, and proposes that all provincial stomatological associations and CSA members carry out oral health campaign.  Due to the novel coronavirus pneumonia pandemic this year, CSA plans to promote online instead of onsite activities.

CSA started to translate the materials in January provided by FDI, including 4 posters, 4 factsheets, 1 pledge cards, 1 campaign toolkit, 1 WOHD20-Video.  CSA launched WOHD online promotion on March 9 on our official website and WeChat account.  Also, CSA emailed the Chinese version of the materials to the provincial stomatological associations and branches on March 12th, and encourage them to organize WOHD campaign.

The theme of WOHD 2020 is UNITE FOR MOUTH HEALTH, aiming to encourage everyone to be committed to value their oral health and encourage people around them to participate together, such as making and sharing their own personalized posters and promoting their pledges.  CSA invited well-known experts such as the president and vice presidents of CSA to create their personalized posters, and uploaded to the official website of CSA on March 17 to promote the public to maintain oral health and encourage the public to work together to make a commitment to oral health.

In order to understand parents' concern about their children's oral health, FDI has conducted social surveys in 10 developed and developing countries.  CSA translates and reviews the survey report, and release the survey results on CSA’s official website on March 20.

At the same time, in order to expand the influence of FDI WOHD in China and improve public's oral health awareness, CSA provide the FDI survey result and WOHD campaign to media in China (such as: Health News, Tencent Health, Today's Oral, Health Times, Netease News, etc.) so that the media will help to form a national upsurge in oral health.

"World Oral Health Day" is one of the most important topics of scientific popularization activities of CSA, and CSA receives reports of activities from all over the country every year.  CSA will summarize and collect statistics on the activities carried out during 320 campaign, and provide it to the FDI with the latest results of the fourth national survey on oral health.
