Beirut, Lebanon: ToothFully Yours by LADS: Lebanese Association of Dental Students

ToothFully Yours !!!

Last year in our campaign, we diagnosed around 600 people (between kids and adults) and managed to distribute around 3500 samples (toothpastes, toothbrushes...).

This year, we are aiming to reach not only students, adults, parents, but also particular varieties of people all over Lebanon; so different socioeconomic status, patients with special need like orphans, handicapped, cancer patient.

We will also focus on letting people know how to properly floss, brush and maintain their oral hygiene, to keep their mouth clean and healthy, but also we will also focus on the early diagnosis of mouth cancer because its is as important/aggressive as any other cancer.

To make it a tradition, we will also try, like last year, to cover all Lebanon with our campaign and we will try as well to target all age groups.

Finally, we are aiming to distribute samples,as much as possible, to make sure that our campaign is not only theoretical but also being applied AND in a correct way!

Campaign locations for this year:

1.                 Beirut Arab University different locations:

-> A traditional event will be held in each campus so we can celebrate the world Oral health day with all the faculties in the university.

2.     Through all the event we will try as much as possible to collaborate with LPSA: Lebanese Pharmaceutical Student Association

LPSA was established in 2014 and received the IPSF (International Pharmaceutical Students Federation) membership in association at the 60th IPSF World Congress in Portugal.

LPSA is a social, non-political, non-religious and non-profit association that comprises students from the five pharmacy schools in Lebanon.

-> This collaboration will add a plus for our events, because we will be benefitting from their pharmaceutical knowledge and work; the patients will be more convinced that their general health can and is strongly affecting their oral health, since both dental students and pharmacist are insisting on the same point.

3.     SOS, Orphanage center:

-> SOS Children's Villages Lebanon is a non-governmental non-profit social development National Association and a member of the International Federation of SOS Children's Villages (SOS CV) which is an umbrella organization for 135 national SOS CV organizations in the world among them are 9 Arab countries. We are part of the world’s largest practitioner movement for supporting the children’s rights who are deprived of parental care or at risk of losing it by providing them with family-based care and preventing child abandonment through Family Strengthening Program (FSP). These 2 programs complement each other to take care of vulnerable less fortunate children.

4.     ARC EN CIEL, handicapped patients:

-> A Lebanese based non-profit NGO, which supports Lebanon’s most underprivileged and marginalized communities, regardless of religion, political affiliation or nationality.
Since its inception in 1985, arc en ciel’s mission in Lebanon has been to promote diversity, integration and development. Arc en ciel serves people ‘at risk’ and enables them to become productive and independent members of society, who in turn help others ‘at risk’.

5.     Old age shelter' HEALTHCARE: دار للمسنين   because old age patient cant be working alone and in a correct way, thats why educating their healthcare proffesionnals to make sure that they are practicing and maintaining their oral hygene in a correct way is really important.

6.     Athletic and sports team: -> Advanced soccer academy and Yarez taekwando team

->  to teach these atheletic kids how to act in case of any traumatic injury is really important!

7.     CCCL : Children Cancer Center LEBANON

“no child should die in the dawn of life,” the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, USA opened its doors in 1962 and has many branches like LEBANON.
