Oral Health Awareness Campaign by the Dental Hygiene Programme at the Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi, Pakistan

The Aga Khan University Dental Hygiene Programme held a campaign for healthy teeth and gums for patients and caregivers in the pediatric oncology and internal medicine wards. It was a four day event, to spread oral health awareness and education.  

The activities designed for the patients included:

1. Oral hygiene education using typodonts and oral care aids
2. Platelet count and oral care
3. Use of Mouthwashes
4. Cancer therapy and oral health
5. Parents' oral health and transmissibility to the child 
6. Sealants and Fluoride
7. Baby bottled teeth and thumb sucking
8. Nutritional counselling
9. Coloring activities to identify healthy and unhealthy food
10. Coloring activities for the patients
11. Distributed gifts which included oral care aids and colors
12. Distributed stickers to the children by tooth fairy
