This project was a community-based oral health campaign conducted in commemoration of World Oral Health Day, aimed at improving oral health awareness and preventive practices among underserved populations.
The campaign was implemented across two key community settings a local market and children's Church, to reach both adults and children, who represent high-need and often underserved groups in oral health education.
At the market setting, interactive oral health education sessions were delivered to traders and community members, focusing on proper toothbrushing techniques, prevention of common oral diseases, and the importance of regular dental check-ups. Participants were actively engaged through demonstrations and open discussions to address myths and misconceptions about oral health. Also, Toothpaste and toothbrushes were distributed to them.
At the children church setting, age-appropriate oral health education was provided to the kids using simplified, engaging methods. Live toothbrushing demonstrations were conducted to promote correct oral hygiene practices from an early age, reinforcing the message of preventive care.
Across both settings, the campaign emphasized behavioral change, encouraging participants to adopt daily oral hygiene practices and seek professional dental care when necessary.
This initiative contributed to bridging the gap in oral health awareness by taking education directly to the community, promoting the message that oral health is essential to overall health and well-being.
